Sean “Diddy” Combs reportedly suffered a head injury during a fight with fellow inmate Christopher “Dudus” Coke at a federal prison in New Jersey, according to a report from TMZ.

The alleged altercation happened Friday, Oct. 9, at the Federal Correctional Institution Fort Dix, TMZ reported, citing multiple sources inside the prison.

According to TMZ, the fight stemmed from frustration among inmates following reports about Combs’ alleged treatment behind bars. The outlet reported that inmates were upset after an NBC News report detailed claims that Combs had access to special privileges and contraband while incarcerated.

TMZ reported that prison officials conducted at least two raids following the reports and confiscated cellphones from inmates, including Coke. Sources told the outlet that some inmates blamed Combs for the increased scrutiny.

Coke, also known as “Dudus,” is a Jamaican drug lord who has been serving a 23-year federal prison sentence since 2012, according to published reports.

The alleged fight came shortly before Combs was transported from the prison by ambulance early Saturday, Oct. 10, after suffering a head injury.

Combs was taken outside the prison for medical treatment and returned to the facility before sunrise. A source familiar with the situation told PEOPLE that the injury was not life-threatening and that Combs returned to prison the same day.

Combs’ spokesperson, Juda Engelmayer, told PEOPLE that his health and well-being were the immediate concern and thanked those who had reached out.

The circumstances surrounding the injury were initially unclear. TMZ later reported that the injury occurred during the alleged fight with Coke.

Why Diddy is in prison

Combs is serving a 50-month federal prison sentence after being convicted in 2025 on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He was acquitted of more serious sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy charges.

He is currently incarcerated at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey. Federal prison records list his projected release date as March 2, 2028.

The alleged altercation and the details surrounding it have not been independently confirmed by prison officials.
