A 35-year-old man bashed a homeless man over the head with a metal walker, stomped him three times and urinated on him earlier this month in Belmont Cragin because he thought the homeless man was trying to steal his bottle of vodka, prosecutors said Wednesday.

A Cook County judge ordered Mateusz Mysliwiec, 35, detained after he was charged with murder in the death of the 51-year-old unidentified homeless man, police and prosecutors said.

Mysliwiec, of Dunning, is alleged to have kicked and stomped the victim three times, bashed him over his head with a metal walker and urinated on him, with another uncharged co-defendant, prosecutors said.

The attack happened shortly before midnight Oct. 2 in the 5500 block of West Wellington Avenue, and the man died the next day. An autopsy determined he died of multiple injuries from an assault, and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
