Lanes of Highway 101 at Hospital Curve in San Francisco to close this weekend

All southbound lanes and one northbound lane of Highway 101 at Hospital Curve in San Francisco will be closed this weekend for an ongoing construction project.

The closure between Cesar Chavez Street and 17th Street will start at 11 p.m. Friday and continue until 6 a.m. Monday, according to Caltrans.

Motorists should avoid the area and consider taking Interstate 280 as an alternate, Caltrans said.

The closure will affect drivers heading out of San Francisco on the Central Freeway and those driving into San Francisco from the East Bay over the Bay Bridge, hoping through the city on highway 101.

It will also affect those heading to Chase Center for the Game 1 of the WNBA Finals.

This marks the third closure for the ongoing Hospital Curve repaving and rehabilitation project, which started last fall.

The fourth and final closure – impacting the same lanes as this weekend’s closure – is scheduled for the weekend of Nov. 6-9, weather permitting, according to Caltrans.
