Irving ISD asks voters to approve $952 million bond package in November

Posted

Voters in Irving ISD will see a bond package on the November ballot that would give the district $952 million to spend on a host of building and renovation projects, including the reconstruction of five aging campuses.

The four-part package would also fund technology upgrades, cybersecurity enhancements, and safety and security improvements across the district. It would carry a property tax increase of $20.83 per month on a $340,000 home, which is the median home value in the district.

If approved, the bond issue would be just the district’s second in nearly two decades. In 2023, voters in the district approved three of the five bond proposals the district placed on the ballot. It was the first bond proposal the district passed in 16 years.

District leaders say the projects included in this year’s proposal are necessary because school buildings are outdated. Four of the buildings slated for replacement were built in the 1950s and ‘60s.
