A new bouldering gym is opening soon in Interbay: Castle Climbing Club plans to open at 1415 Elliott Ave W in December.

Castle Climbing Club (CCC) currently has a location in West Seattle, which opened in January. It’s a bouldering gym first and foremost, but it also has pole dancing, a sauna and cold plunge, and yoga.

The new CCC is replacing ROQ Climbing, which closed in September after operating for just shy of nine months.

In an announcement on their website, Castle says the new location will have 15,000 square feet of bouldering, training boards, and the same a offerings as its West Seattle location.

The Interbay CCC will have a Seattle-made Finnish wood-fired sauna and cold plunge, which anyone can use with a day pass or membership. They’ll also have pole dancing classes, which will also be available for members and people buying day passes, but specialty and advanced classes, workshops, and performances may cost extra. The gym will also have yoga and movement classes spanning from vinyasa to yin to aerial arts (silks and lyra).

The gym is primarily for adults, but kids ages 8 and older will be allowed to use the gym from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Kids ages 8-14 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who is also a member. Kids ages 14-17 can use the facility unsupervised during daytime hours. All sauna and weight areas will be strictly 18+.

CCC is planning a soft opening in December, with its grand opening planned for January 1. They’re selling discounted memberships ahead of the opening, with a 6-month membership for $399, one year for $699, or three years for $1,999. CCC says that memberships purchased now can be used at their West Seattle location while people wait for the Interbay location to open.

CCC will join a growing number of climbing gyms in North Seattle: Other nearby gyms including Vertical World in Interbay, Edgeworks on NW Market St in Ballard (formerly Stone Gardens), Half Moon Bouldering in Greenwood, and Seattle Bouldering Project in Fremont.
